As your departure date approaches, it’s important to take care of last-minute tasks that will help you leave home with peace of mind. These final steps can make a big difference in how smoothly your trip starts and how stress-free your return will be.

• Pause Mail and Deliveries. Prevent overflowing mailboxes or packages sitting on your doorstep by holding your mail through the USPS or pausing any regular deliveries. This simple task can help protect your home and privacy while you’re away.
• Arrange Pet or House Care. If you have pets, arrange for a trusted pet sitter, friend, or boarding service. If you're leaving your home unattended, consider asking someone to check in, water plants, and take out trash. A house-sitter can also help deter potential issues like leaks or unexpected deliveries.
• Clear Out Perishables. Avoid returning to unpleasant smells or wasted food by cleaning out your refrigerator and pantry. Eat or donate what you can, and take out the trash before you leave.
