Understand & Experience Thanksgiving

Carmen Willings

June 12, 2025
Thanksgiving Day is celebrated in the United States on the fourth Thursday of November. It commemorates the 1621 harvest feast shared between the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag people. The holiday symbolizes gratitude, cooperation, and the spirit of community. It centers on giving thanks, bringing families and friends together for festive meals featuring traditional foods like turkey, stuffing, and pie. Thanksgiving also serves as a time to reflect on the contributions, culture, and experiences of Native American communities, both past and present. This blend of historical remembrance and personal appreciation makes Thanksgiving a uniquely American tradition rooted in both celebration and thoughtful reflection.
